Smash N Bash

Guests book a timed session online, sign a waiver (ahead of time or 15 minutes early), and are fitted with layered protective gear before entering the smash room. Rooms hold up to four participants, and the packages set the time and the breakable items supplied. Non-participants can't enter, but a lounge is available for watching. Everything except suitable clothing and shoes is provided, and the activity is described as similar to a high-intensity workout.

Opened in December 2019 by owners Julie and Richard Devaney and describes itself as the longest operating rage room in Dallas-Fort Worth. It later added a blacklight splatter painting room.

What you can smash

Items on offer include dishes, glasses, bottles, jars, vases, framed pictures, laptops and desktops, VCR/DVD players, small kitchen appliances, office equipment, toys and LED TVs only.

Protective gear supplied by the venue: layered safety gear from head to toe, extra layers for hands and face and suits.

Before you go

A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors in the room and act as an observer only, not smash. A sibling or partner (unless married) isn't accepted as a substitute. Minor waiver required.

Health and safety

• Weak immune system: site doesn't recommend a visit because of dust and debris
• Not recommended for wheelchair users in the rage room (bathrooms not wheelchair accessible)
• Dust may be difficult for asthmatics; masks encouraged

Waiver: Adult and minor waivers online; fill in before the appointment or arrive 15 minutes early to complete it. Every participant needs one.

What to wear: closed-toe shoes (Crocs not accepted), comfortable pants, ankle-high socks and t-shirt.

Your own items: $25 fee for extra cleanup and disposal. Not allowed: aerosol cans, batteries/explosives, clay, concrete or heavy ceramics, gum/food/drinks, light bulbs, microwaves/refrigerators, paint/ink/liquids, non-LED TVs, other hazardous materials.

Rules

• Maximum four participants per smash room
• Non-participating guests not allowed in the room except a parent or guardian of a minor
• No hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets as shirts, long-sleeved flannel or heavy clothing
• No dresses, skirts, high heels, platforms, flats, Keds or thin shoes
• Don't film staff, owners or other guests; no publishing without written consent

Music: Multiple music options mentioned; no detail. Photos and video: Guests may generally film their own sessions. Extra equipment is at the guest's own risk. Filming requests are asked to be booked Wed or Thu after 4pm. Extended filming time costs $300 per hour, set against a normal $360 per hour recording rate.
